Titov Leads, Heroes Fall, and Ha Wins a Platinum Pass on Day 2 of the PCA Main Event

Oleg Titov - Current Chip Leader of the PCA Main Event
Oleg Titov - Current Chip Leader of the PCA Main Event

Day 2 of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event has come to a close and after five more levels of play it's Oleg Titov who is leading the way. Titov bagged up 493,000 over the course of the day and eliminated serveral players, including the likes of Bryn Kenney who fell just before the last break of the night. Titov would be looking for his biggest cash ever in the PCA Main Event, with his previously recorded all-time high being $51,111 two years ago at the EPT Barcelona.

There were 341 players to begin the day, but at it's close, 101 players remained, leaving them just a few spots shy of the money bubble. The bubble is very likely to break early on Day 3. Plenty of heroes and fan favorites fell today, including the likes of Maurice Hawkins, Connor Drinan, Christopher Kruk, Nick Petrangelo, Mike Wang, Matt Glantz, Steve O'Dwyer, Mike Leah, Mutapha Kanit, Jason Koon, and Bryn Kenney to name a few.

Another one to bow up was defending champion Christian Harder. Harder found himself all in and at risk against two other players holding ace-jack while his opponents were holding pocket nines and pocket queens. Harder was able to pair his jack, but it wasn't enough to earn him the pot and he was eliminated from the tournament in the second level of the day.

One of the other exciting storylines from the day involves Thai Ha, one of the biggest stacks coming out of Day 1. All Main Event Day 2 participants had the chance today to win their own $30,000 Platinum Pass, which includes a $25,000 buy-in to the inaugural 2019 PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold'em Championship, along with accommodation and expenses. It was Ha who was awarded the Pass by winning a blind hand dealt among the players at his table. Ha rivered trip eights to take down the Pass, joining the likes of Friend of PokerStars Maria Konnikova, who received a Pass earlier this week by winning the $1,650 National Championship.

There are still plenty of notables and recognaizable faces returning on Thursday, including Konnikova among others. Konnikova (266,500) late registered this event as she was busy winning the $1,650 National Championship during the first few days of registration. Others returning tomorrow include Adrian Mateos (358,000), David Peters (327,000), Maria Lampropulos (299,500), Koray Aldemir (256,000), Chris Hunichen (166,000), Liv Boeree (96,000), Harrison Gimbel(99,000), Joao Simao (90,500), Ivan Luca (77,000), Barry Greenstein (69,000) and Kevin MacPhee (38,500).

The remaining players return tomorrow at noon at level 14 with blinds of 1,500/3,000 with an ante of 500. PokerNews will be on the floor to cover all the action and updates from Day 3 onwards, so make sure to stay tuned so you don't miss a thing.

Roman Wieczorek Takes Down a Big Massive Pot at the Feature Table

[user217945] • Ниво 13: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

Xixiang Luo moved all in before the flop before Maurice Schwab moved all in over the top for a little more than 120,000. Roman Wieczorek called with a covering stack of both players and it was off to a showdown creating a massive pot of nearly 300,000.

Luo: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Schwab: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Wieczorek: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The board ran out {3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{K-Hearts} giving Wieczorek the winning set of kings and eliminating both other players from the tournament. With that pot, Wieczorek moves over 300,000 chips.

Konnikova's Got Game

[user339872] • Ниво 13: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante
Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

Maria Konnikova has been the talk of the 2018 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure after taking down the $1,650 PCA National one day ago. She late registered for the Main Event and has been sitting on a shorter stack for the better part of the day. However, Konnikova is proving that his first major win was no accident.

The Russian-American writer opened to 5,100 from the cutoff and Marius Patro three-bet to 20,000 out of the big blind. Konnikova called and the flop came {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Patro led out for 30,000 and Konnikova instantly called.

The turn brought the {7-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {10-Hearts} on the river. Patro announced all in and Konnikova asked for a count. Patro held the bigger stack with around 107,000 and Konnikova was left with 87,300 and a decision to make for her tournament life.

After a couple moments, Konnikova pushed her stack of chips into the middle and left her opponent stunned. She waited for Patro to turn over his cards and when he did, it was the {q-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for just queen-high. Konnikova tabled {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and raked in a massive pot in the last few hands of the night.

Four More Hands

Each table will play four more hands before players bag chips for the evening.

Sinclair's Got the Goods

[user339872] • Ниво 13: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

After a raise from Vytis Paskevicius in early position, Jack Sinclair three-bet to 15,500 from the hijack. The action folded back to Paskevicius who pushed forward a four-bet to 40,000. Sinclair looked back at his cards and then shoved all in. Paskevicius quickly tossed in his last few chips and was at risk of being eliminated.

Paskevicius tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} but was in rough shape when he saw the {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} of Sinclair. The board ran out {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Spades}{a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and Paskevicius was drawing dead by the turn. Sinclair is making a late charge as the last level of play nears its end.

Poterek Takes a Massive Pot From Hunichen

• Ниво 13: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

There was a huge pile of about 115,000 chips already in the middle and the board read {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} when we got to the table. Chris Hunichen checked from middle position and his opponent, Patryk Poterek in the cutoff, slid two stacks of blue T-5,000 chips forward. Hunichen had about 90,000 chips remaining and was faced with a decision for his stack. He went into the tank for over three minutes before he eventually folded.

"Show one card?" he asked Poterek. After some hesitation, he agreed, and the {8-Spades} was exposed before the dealer collected his cards.

West is Going North on the Leaderboard

[user339872] • Ниво 13: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

The action was on Jonathan West in the small blind and he was facing a raise of 5,500 from Mike Adamo in the cutoff and a call by Mikita Badziakouski on the button. West made a three-bet to 19,000 and sent the action back to Adamo who announced a four-bet all in of 87,200. Badziakouski quickly folded and West went into the tank.

"Ahhh," he moaned as he agonized over his decision. "I don't want to call. I really don't want to call."

Although West felt he was behind, he still made the call and was indeed behind. Adamo tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} which was dominating West's {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}. The flop came {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Adamo was still out front although there were some chop outs now. The {2-Clubs} on the turn changed nothing but the {k-Hearts} landed on the river. West rivered a straight to send Adamo to the rail and push West over the 350,000 chip mark.
