Event 4: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8-or-Better

[user153638] • Ниво 18: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante

A few more eliminations just occurred, bringing us down to 24 players and to the three-table redraw. We'll have details for you shortly.

Mizrachi Grinds Two Down to the Ground

We just saw a three-way pot take place that resulted in the eliminations of both Gregory Jamison and Timothy Frazin. The former was short and all in early while the latter battled Mizrachi on every street until seventh.

Mizrachi: {10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{A-Clubs}

We're not 100% positive, but it appeared Mizrachi, who had the vast majority of his chips in the pot, caught the {A-Clubs} on the river to make both a flush and a low.

"How high?" Frazin asked when "The Grinder" announced a flush. Much to Frazin's dismay, his {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}-high flush and inferior low were no good and both he and Jamison were eliminated.

Minus One Mizrachi

Robert Mizrachi - out
Robert Mizrachi - out

We've just lost half of our remaining Mizrachis. It was Robert who departed, unfortunately.

We were too late to catch much of anything, but it sounds like Todd Brunson had to draw lucky on seventh street. If our hurried notes are correct, Brunson made a pair of nines with {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} to eliminate Mizrachi.

Carroll Hears the Bell

William Carroll - out
William Carroll - out

Xuan Liu has just taken the tournament life of Day 1 chip leader William Carroll.

Carroll got it in on fifth street and made aces up with no low. With six cards out, Liu's hand read {8-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} / {6-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {4-Spades} / (x). She had half the pot locked up, and she was drawing live to the scoop.

She rolled over the {3-Hearts}, and that's a scooper. Trips take the high half, the eight takes the low, and Carroll is out the door with 32 players left.

"I owe you dinner," Frankie O'Dell said to Liu. "You just moved me up a spot."

O'Dell is referring to the new pay jump, and we'll break a table before we get back in action.

McKinnon Gored

A short-stacked Lauchlin McKinnon was all in from the get go and looking to survive against Erik Gorman.

Gorman: {3-Spades}{5-Diamonds} / {3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts} / {A-Spades}
McKinnon: {2-Hearts}{9-Clubs} / {7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts} / (X)

Gorman finished the hands with just a pair of fives with an ace kicker, which turned out to be good as McKinnon blanked on seventh and failed to improve upon his own pair of fives. His inferior kicker saw him exit in 34th place for $3,921.

Meanwhile, Dan Colpoys finished in 35th place.

Aussie, Aussie

David Steicke & Marsha Waggoner

"Floor!" Chris Tryba yelled a while back. "Is it against the rules to have two Australians at the same table?"

Tryba was joking, of course, but he is faced with two tough Aussies to his left — David Steicke and Marsha Waggoner. We just watched them play a heads-up pot for Waggoner's tournament life.

Steicke: (x-x) / {6-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts} / (x)
Waggoner: (x-x) / {7-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} / (x)

Steicke led the betting the whole way, firing bullets every chance he got. Waggoner's final call put her all in for what looked like 6,500.

"Two pair," Steicke announced as he showed {Q-Spades} {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} / {6-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts}.

No good. Waggoner showed trips with {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} / {7-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}, and she's doubled her way up to about 69,000. Steicke is now the shorter of the two Aussies, sitting with 51,000 chips.

Tryba Eliminates Madsen

Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen

"A lot of chips went in fast," Chris Tryba explained after he busted 2006 WSOP Player of the Year Jeff Madsen. It appeared a lot of chips went in on the turn, with bets following on each subsequent street. Madsen got the last of his chips in on seventh, but much to his surprise his hand was no good.

Tryba: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Madsen: {10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

We're not sure of the cards' order, but as you can see Madsen held trip sixes only to run into Tryba's flush. Madsen was eliminated in 36th place and takes home $3,921 for his efforts.
